For the purposes of our business and website the term MindSpace means the space we intentionally create within our mind and physical brain by having habits, practices and activities that promote it’s healthy function and efficiency.  The result can be peace, freedom and success.  It is our endeavor to bring to our viewers information, classes, projects and products to assist in opening their MindSpace.

Nature’s MindSpace

Nurtured by Nature

How are we nurtured by nature? By taking time each day to commune with nature we allow the mind to relax and breathe. The body, in turn, can be energized with a lifted spirit for the day’s plethora of activities.

Creative MindSpace

Clarity through Creativity

Developing a creative hobby is mind freeing. How? When we are engaged in conscious focused creativity, the subconscious brain is still working in the background, much like the operating system of your computer. As we are engaged in that conscious focused activity, our subconscious brain becomes more efficient at filing, problem solving and analyzing because we are not in its way complicating things by over thinking and obsessing. When we are in a state of conscious focused creativity, we are freeing the subconscious brain to do its job more efficiently which also leads to peace, balance, success and happiness.

Functional MindSpace

Freedom through Organization

Life is complicated and we have more interests and more “things” than any other past generation. While these “things” help us in our modern world to get jobs done or provide diversion and fun, it is super frustrating when we can’t find the item we need to start or complete a task! Creating an organized living/working environment is truly mind freeing, eliminating wasted time and frustration looking for things. “Everything in its place” replaces that frustration with control and freedom! It is the goal of our business to help out viewers improve their life by reducing clutter, confusion from disorganization and the misfiling of information.  The end game is  increase productivity, a  happier and more contented spirit and a healthy feeling of control and freedom!

Create MindSpace for “Peace of Mind”

General Psychological Definition of Mind-Space

The term “mind space” is often used to refer to the mental state or psychological space (or state of mind) in which a person’s thoughts, emotions, and perceptions exist. It encompasses one’s overall mental well-being, consciousness, and cognitive processes. Mind-space can be influenced by various factors such as genetics, physical and mental brain health, stress, emotions, life experiences, life/work environments, activities, and habits, and hence will vary from person to person.

The purpose of our business and website, “Create MindSpace,”

“MindSpace,” as used in our business and on our website, takes the above definition a step further. We want to provide practical information, classes, projects, and products that promote a healthy state of mind. Here’s the spin! We all know that our thoughts, actions, and environments can influence and physically change the organ called our brain, for better or for worse. We would like to focus on improving brain health and psychological well-being by promoting simple positive changes in one’s habits and actions. Our goal is to help declutter the brain and “oil the machine,” creating a better flow of chemical, electrical, and magnetic processes that we call thoughts, feelings, cognition, intellect, problem solving, coping, etc. We will focus on three simple ways to do this: communing with nature, developing a creative outlet, and organizing living and work environments.

Let’s illustrate this difficult concept called “mind space.”

Illustration One

Our brains could look like a 6-lane super highway with multiple clover leaves going up, down, and all around during rush hour. Everyone is trying to cross over lanes every which way to get off at their exit in time. People are honking their horns at you, and some are even screaming in frustration! Some lanes are not just slow, but traffic is jammed because of a broken down car blocking the exit. Others are waiting and stalled due to an accident. All drivers feel frustrated and out of control—maybe even violent. This scenario, day after day, can be super detrimental to our health. When the brain is in a similar situation for prolonged periods, it too may malfunction. Something has to give!!!

This can be our brains in today’s fast-paced world. Our brains have so many demands in this modern world that our lives could be like that super highway in rush hour. This means that our brain has to be in constant overdrive just to navigate and cope. It is designed to develop neurological networks like the complex road systems to meet the demands of one’s life. The more complicated these neural demands become without a rest, the weaker and more inefficient the brain becomes—the more our thoughts and actions could even become irrational and out of control. The feelings of stress, agitation, dissatisfaction, and depression are all warning signs that our brains could be overworked, becoming imbalanced and inefficient. These signs may not necessarily be a bad thing. They are, in fact, the brain’s cry for help. The good news is that a healthy brain is designed to be adaptable, so changing a few things might just put it back in balance. Let’s look at a new route to take. It might take a little more time, but the scenery is lovely, and the pace of driving is steady and safe. There are few lanes to cross, so no one is upset with you. When you get to your destination, you are in a pleasant frame of mind! This is the journey we at “Create MindSpace” would like to take with you!

Our brains are also like computers. It is designed with a complex operating system to help it (the brain) and the rest of the body function efficiently. What happens when your computer has too many windows open, too many rabbits of information, things are misfiled, it is never shut down and re-started, and it is not updated? Our computer is so cluttered that even the operating system can’t function properly, and the computer becomes slow and inefficient, and sometimes it will just shut down. Changing some of our habits could actually restore our computer’s performance, speed, and efficiency.

Yes, our brains are much the same. If we do not care for this vital organ properly, our thinking and productivity could become sluggish, confused, disorganized, and inefficient. Our emotions can become fragile, frustrated, and even overreactive, which can impact our business and personal relationships. We can personally suffer by just not being on our game in business, family, or personal pursuits. How can this happen? Our neural pathways need mental space to run smoothly. If we declutter our minds, file things properly, close windows by finishing projects, provide rest through relaxation, shut it down with proper sleep, and organize our thought processes and environments, think how much more efficient and happy our brains would be! Our computer will be running quickly and smoothly without a glitch! User-friendly again!
