Toni’s Professional Careers
My entire life has been dedicated to helping people grow in one way or another. As a registered nurse with a critical care specialty, I have had the privilege of teaching parts of Nursing Critical Care Courses to my nursing colleagues. As a licensed esthetician, licensed master barber, licensed massage therapist, and licensed nail technician, I have had the honor of teaching, apprenticing, and preparing students for state board exams in these respective areas for the states of MD and PA. I have had the business experience of owning and operating two successful companies, Professional Esthetics Inc. and MarketSt. Manor Spa & Salon (sold), and was a rep and educator for two major product lines. My husband Camillo has also been a critical care nurse, a nursing instructor, and now an IT data management specialist for a major hospital in our area. He has been an unpaid Christian minister with a heavy teaching schedule for the past 50 years. Throughout our 45 years of marriage, Camillo and I have carried a heavy schedule of life coaching and counseling responsibilities (all volunteer), from teaching practical life skills to people of various religions, cultures, and walks of life… to talking people off the ledge and getting them to the proper mental health provider or facility for help. All of the above experience has helped us to deeply understand the needs of people and discern a course of action to help where we can. This is actually why we have developed this website, “Create MindSpace.” People are struggling emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually today, in a way like never before. We hope that taking some practical steps presented here, life will be a little lighter and brighter! The website has a long way to go and is under development as we have time. But we have great plans for fun activities and healthy, helpful information.
Toni’s Early Life and Introduction to Beading
I always had an interest in and knack for anything creative. I sewed my first button-down shirt when I was eight out of an old, dry-rotten pillowcase. My love of designing and sewing clothes with master techniques started with that little seed, and I have carried that love my entire life. As an adolescent, I used an Inkle loom in the 70’s and taught myself how to weave. In later years, I have enjoyed weaving on my Baby Wolf fabric floor loom. Over the past 12 years, my love of sewing and weaving has taken a new direction. Thankful to Youtube, I accidentally discovered bead weaving, bead embroidery, and bead loom weaving! My first project was an intricate bracelet from an Italian teacher who didn’t speak a word of English. Using pause and rewind often, I did it!!! It was amazing even though there were a few “thread bridges” that I didn’t notice… It didn’t matter. I was hooked!!! I continued teaching myself with the aid of many Youtube teachers until I felt I could hold my own in a class of intermediate and advanced beaders… and the rest is history! Having studied under some of the “Best of the Best” for the past 12 years, I feel qualified to impart a good foundation of basic beading stitches, techniques, and skills for the beginner to intermediate students. My teaching style is methodical and detailed, sharing time-saving tips and tricks as well as demonstrating proper techniques so as to develop good reading habits. My classes are designed to take simple stitches and techniques and make the design look elegant and complex. My past experience has served me well in the beading arena. I love teaching the beginner to intermediate students because “This is where the magic happens” for me!” The joy of imparting the knowledge is watching the glow of success, smiling faces, and the pride of the accomplishment! My goal with the beading portion of our website is to offer classes and tutorials conducive to creating “MindSpace.” That means I will keep the projects and designs simple in complexity so the brain rests, yet the finished product will look anything but simple. There will be a lot of video instruction and classes, both in person and virtually. Kits may be required. There will be a learning section for “Very beginners”. Check out the “Classes” page and the new Facebook page“Creative MindSpace.” Please like and follow! That will help our growth and exposure. Our growth will, in turn, help more people improve the quality of their lives and enjoy a “Peace of MindSpace”.
